The situation in Estonia
The artist Jaak Visnap from Estonia talked about the
situation for graphic art today in his country. Jaak is
in the middle of a project aiming to build a center
of graphic art in Pärnu. The organization is young
and they are eager to make contacts with artists
in other countries. The artists in the project are very
interested in taking part in European networks.
Through network contacts one has been able to
introduce new technics, like photo technics, in
Estonia. In spite of the poor economic resources one
has attained impressive results in a very short time.
Workshop
In the afternoon artist Modhir Ahmed made a workshop
in which he demonstrated his shellac method, a very
simple and direct way to a lithographic print.
Artist Sigrid Wallskog made a workshop in
which she
showed how to work with Novadom plates, a kind
of polyester plates, which easily can be printed out
directly from the computer or transfered in an ordinary
copy machine. This method is, just like the shellac
method, very easy and direct.
